Kreuzer Leipzig German Navy Postcard

The Leipzig had an interesting history. Launched in 1928 then performed escort duties in the begining of the war. In 1939 the Leipzig was torpedoed by the british and repaired by late 1940. Then provided gunfire support to the advancing Wehrmacht troops invading the Soviet Union in 1941. In 1945 she helped defend Gotenhafen from the advancing Red Army. Her last mission was carrying a group of fleeing german civilians to Denmark in late April. The Leipzig was then scuttled in July of 1946.
